Did you know that afternoon tea was introduced in 1840 by Anna, the seventh Duchess of Bedford? Needing to fill a gap between the late evening meal and lunch, afternoon tea was born!

Enjoy yours in the elegant surrounds of Missenden Abbey followed by a walk around the lovely grounds in the picturesque Chilterns countryside.

All our afternoon tea menus are created with homegrown or locally sourced produce ensuring the freshest ingredients are used.

Gluten free, vegetarian and vegan options are also available. Please let us know in advance of your visit of any additional dietary requirements. Allergens available upon request.

We proudly serve cream teas from 10am and afternoon tea from 12pm, any day of the week, subject to availability. Afternoon tea bookings must be booked in advance with at least 48 hours notice. All afternoon tea bookings will require a non-refundable £10 deposit per person. All cream tea bookings will require a non-refundable £5 deposit per person. Outstanding payments will be taken on day of booking.

Check out our availability and prices and book your afternoon tea below. For bookings of 15 or more people, please contact us on 01494 866811.
