Celebrate 25 years of The Chilterns Chalk Streams Project by getting involved in river restoration work along the Chess!
Would you like to help look after the River Chess? The Chess is a globally scarce chalk stream and a haven for wildlife. It holds an important place in the hearts of many local people.
If you enjoy and care about the river why not get involved? There are a huge variety of volunteer and citizen science activities underway (they don’t all require a regular commitment). This is a chance to try the different activities and decide which is for you. Take part in some practical river restoration and watch a ‘riverfly survey’ demonstration. Then learn about the various citizen science programmes that are both building our knowledge, and helping inform management strategies.
The day will be led by Adrian Porter, Rivers Officer at the Chiltern Society and Prof. Kate Heppell, Chilterns Chalk Streams Project. Booking essential.
This is an outdoor activity so please wear clothing and footwear suitable to the weather. Bring wellies / waders if you have them – spares will be available.
