Join the Upper Thames Branch of Butterfly Conservation on a trip to Aston Rowant NNR: a ‘flagship’ National Nature Reserve, managed by Natural England. It lies on the northwest scarp of the Chiltern Hills, overlooking the Vale of Oxford.
We will explore the steep grassland slopes for some of its special grassland butterflies and a particular day-flying moth. Target species: Cistus Forester plus a range of other grassland species that might include Adonis Blue, Grizzled Skipper and Brown Argus.
Accessibility – steep, strenuous slopes, narrow paths and occasional rabbit holes.
