Neighbourhood Planning

The Chilterns Conservation Board welcomes neighbourhood planning, it is a great way for local communities in the AONB to look after their special locally distinctive areas.

With over a hundred parishes in the AONB, there are lots of neighbourhood plans underway and scope for a lot more. Some parishes are even reviewing their plans and are on the second time round! The Board offers short training courses for Parish and Town Councils about planning in the protected landscape of the AONB. Training sessions in Ballinger, Markyate and Woodcote were attended by nearly 100 people representing about 40 Parish and Town Councils in and around the AONB. The Board hopes to produce a special guide on neighbourhood planning in the Chilterns AONB but in the meantime you might find these guides from national organisations or other AONBs useful:

We have developed a Model Policy for the Chilterns AONB which is primarily for Local Plans but which you might want to consider including in your neighbourhood plans
