Mr George Case

Nominated by: Buckinghamshire Parish Councils

I have lived in the Thames Valley all my life and in Turville Heath for the last 22 years. I enjoy the Chilterns every day of my life- I am passionate about supporting and preserving the Chilterns as a living and working area of the British countryside. I believe the Chilterns can offer both a rich future for its inhabitants and also an area of rare natural beauty for visitors.

After graduating from Magdalen College, Oxford, I worked for 14 years as a prize-winning Television Producer and Journalist for the BBC, Channel 4 and HBO. Amongst films I made was an investigation of abuse at Ashworth Special Hospital, which led to the establishment of a Royal Commission of Enquiry. The Enquiry report led to major reform of the governance of Special Hospitals. Recently I have been teaching documentary film to students at University College, London.

As well as working in Television, I worked as an investment manager specialising in emerging markets in Eastern Europe, Russia, the Middle East, India and Africa. In this work I examine financial accounts and question Finance Directors and Chief Executives on the performance of their companies and their plans for the future.

I have recently been elected to Turville Parish Council, a position which has given me a fresh insight into the governance of the local area.
