Trees are an important part of the landscape around many Chilterns landmarks and Berkhamsted Castle is no exception.
The castle, which dates back to Norman times, is said to be the only castle in the country with a double moat.
Local artist Brian Bennett painted the beech trees which have now grown up alongside the two moats towards the end of winter when the trees were just beginning to come into bud.
