Contrary to its rather shabby sounding name, Low Scrubs is a striking and mysterious area of woodland.
The wood is an ancient coppice, formerly used by the local people as a free source of firewood. This was licenced under as long ago as 1805, and continued to be a valuable resource for the locals until the end of the Second World War.
Low Scrubs is now owned by the National Trust.
No sealed paths.
