The Giant Redwood (Sequoiadendron giganteum) in Henley Park is a good specimen, measuring more than 6 metres around the trunk.
These massive trees are originally from North America where they were discovered in 1854 growing in the Sierra Nevada. There they can live for more than three thousand years and can reach a height of over 100 metres.
The Henley Park Giant Redwood is a little more modest, measuring 32 metres in height.
