Little Owl Oak

Photo by John Willson, Downley resident

This tree is named by locals after the Little Owls that did, or still do, inhabit this notable oak which measures nearly 5 metres in girth.

The tree is found on a Chiltern sunken lane which is now a bridleway.

Originally, Blacksmiths Lane provided a direct link from Downley Common to West Wycombe church which was the parish church for Downley.

The Blacksmiths Forge in Downley,  which gives its name to the lane still exists but not commercially.
