A walk in the Chilterns Country series. Short and long routes take you out of the centre of Chinnor and along rights of way past flower rich chalk pits and holloways and through beech woodland. You walk on Chinnor Hill , one of 200 commons in the Chilterns, and get stunning views over the Vale of Aylesbury. You can break the walk with refreshments at an attractive local pub (The Peacock Country Inn in the nearby hamlet of Henton). There is a chance to do a short detour to get a view of the spectacular disused chalk quarries next to the Ridgeway.
Download the main walk leaflet below. For those with a particular interest in the history, geology and archaeology to be found along the route there is a separate information sheet to accompany the main leaflet, which can also be downloaded below.
The walk is mainly on un-made paths with soft surfaces and there are some stiles. The long route involves a long uphill walk and steep descent.
