The first phase of funding from the £3 million Additional Projects fund provided by HS2 has been agreed by the AONB HS2 Review Group to support a project aiming to reconnect and strengthen the landscape either side of the HS2 line. The project, that has been developed and agreed by the AONB Review Group will see over £300,000 invested in new and improved habitat management over the next 5 years, seeking to restore and enhance connections in the landscape and habitats to provide greater resilience to change from the HS2 route through the Chilterns.
The Chilterns Conservation Board will be developing and leading on the project in collaboration with their Chalk, Cherries and Chairs Landscape Partnership Scheme, funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund. This first Additional Project has come forward after a series of Stakeholder meetings, feasibility reports and criteria looking to achieve the best enhancement for the area around the HS2 line in the Chilterns.
