management plan review

The current Management Plan for the Chilterns AONB was published in 2002. The law requires that it is reviewed within five years of being published and so a process of reviewing it has got underway. The aim is that a new set of policies and actions for managing the Chilterns will be put in place for the period 2008 – 2013.

During the review process everyone will have the chance to have their say about how they think the Chilterns should be managed in the future, and what issues need tackling. Please keep an eye on this page for information about public consultation on the new Plan. It is envisaged that the new Plan will be published by Autumn 2008.

strategic environmental assessment
The Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) is a thorough process which ensures that we will consider environmental, social and economic issues affecting the Chilterns. This will provide the bigger picture and means that we can put the review of the Management Plan into a proper context.

The scoping report for the SEA sets out how the Conservation Board will undertake the SEA and establishes the environmental baseline for the review of the Management Plan. A draft report has been prepared and is now available for public consultation. It can be downloaded below. If you or your organisation would like to submit comments on the draft report please send them to cforrest@chilternsaonb.org by 21 st January 2008.
