This Horse Chestnut tree is a remarkable shape making it a favourite feature for many Penn residents. Its girth of 3.5 metres and the fact that it is hollow suggest that this tree is very old.
Local historians cannot link the tree to any past or present boundary.
This postcard of the war memorial and The Crown Hotel shows a large tree which is no longer standing. Reports have suggested that another tree now stands in this spot.
If this is the case and you know its species, date of planting or can take a photo please get in touch.
Park carefully in the village and walk to this special tree
