What kind of nest do clay pigeons live in?

This wood near Frieth is the home to a highly unusual art display; scattered throughout the treetops are a selection of ceramic bird's nests. They were not, however, made by crows looking to upgrade their accommodation but rather by local artist June Kingsbury.

The piece originally consisted of 12 nests, and whilst one or two have been lost and a few have been victims of frost damage, most are still there. June says "Some are very hidden, almost impossible to see, others rest in the crooks of branches or in clefts of the tree."

The piece followed on from a previous project of June's, which involved collecting objects that could be found along a walk in the wood. More images of the nests, along with June's other woodland art projects, can be found on her website.

The Chiltern woodlands inspired over 150 entries into the Special Woods Art Competition held in 2008. Inspiration for the following images of artworks came from Adam's Wood.
