The logo for the Environment Centre on Holywell Mead is based on the Lime tree nearby which is more than 100 years old. The lime has reached a considerable size, with a girth of 4.1 metres in 2006.

This tree is a small-leaved lime (Tilia cordata), a species which is native to Britain. Small-leaved limes were once the dominant woodland tree in much of Britain and it was highly valued timber tree. Many ancient woods contain very large ancient lime coppice stools. Today the species does not reproduce well from seed, thought be be as a result of climate change, resulting in a restricted range, though existing trees reproduce by vegetative means - suckers and shoots.
