how to record your special wood

As with recording trees, recording woods is straight forward. All you need to take with you to survey a special wood is a recording form, a pen, a map and a digital camera if you have one. This is the recording form we used.

For help with tree identification, please refer to the web page "how to record your special tree".

Many of the woods in the Chilterns contain archaeological features. If you are interested in learning more about woodland archaeology, please contact John Morris at the Chiltern Woodlands Project. John runs courses every year about archaeological features typically found in woods and how to identify them.
