about us
The Special Trees and Woods Project was tremendously successful, largely thanks to a team of committed volunteers who
researched and recorded the history of special trees and woods in photographs, paintings, maps, books and direct from local
people themselves.

The project's work was managed and coordinated from the Chiltern Woodlands Project office in Chinnor. Liz Manley started
as project coordinator in January 2006 and the project was soon achieving greater things than ever imagined. In 2008 we
were therefore delighted when the Heritage Lottery Fund agreed to extend the project until March 2010 within the existing
budget. At the end of that year Liz left to become a full-time mother and Rachel Sanderson took over, managing the project's
activities until it finished.
