Diamonds in the landscape logoThe 2009 Planning Conference takes place on Wednesday 30th September at Benson Village Hall, Benson, near Wallingford.. Speakers from various organisations will address the theme of ’60 years of sustainable development – from concept to reality?’. This is a promoted ‘Diamonds in the Landscape’ event in celebration of the 60th Anniversary of the 1949 National Parks and Access to the Countryside Act. The 2008 Chilterns AONB Planning Conference, held at the Wycliffe Centre, Horsleys Green near High Wycombe on 8th October, had a theme of ‘The Green Belt – What does it mean?’. Speakers from a variety of backgrounds and organisations tried to explain what they understood the constraints and opportunities to be, particularly in connection with the increasing pressure for growth that is being promoted in regional spatial strategies and having to be accommodated in local development frameworks.
