The Chilterns Conservation Board has a duty to advise on all planning matters, and comments on all aspects of the development process. However, with a new planning system in place the Conservation Board’s focus is on ensuring that the special qualities of the AONB are recognised and protected in all development plans.
To try and secure good design and proper use of materials in new developments in the AONB the Chilterns Conservation Board has prepared the Chilterns Buildings Design
Guide plus some supplementary Technical Notes, The use of the Design Guide is
promoted by an annual Buildings Design Awards
scheme.
Key issues in planning that affect the Chilterns AONB are the
subject of an annual conference.
