Countryside Festival

The Chilterns Countryside and Food Festival is open from 10am-4pm, admission is £4 for adults with children under 16 free (must be accompanied by an adult). There will be a small charge for some activities.

Food stands will be selling local produce ranging from cheeses, cakes and chutneys to pies, pastries and poultry to take home. If you’re feeling peckish, you can tuck into a wide range of hot food including a bbq, hog and venison roasts, chicken and steak sandwiches, pizza and crepes, including a range of vegetarian options.

Craft stalls will include turned wood and walking sticks from Totternhoe, ceramics from Aylesbury, repurposed clothing from Tring, plus jewellery, cards, photographs and accessories. Many of the stall holders will be demonstrating their skills, and in some cases, you can even have a go.

Enjoy the music stage, sponsored by Launchpad Live Music and Entertainment. Local acts will keep feet tapping throughout the day.

In the forestry and woodcraft area woodland contractors will be operating wood chippers and other machinery. A chainsaw carver will be creating rustic works of art and the traditional crafts of hedge-laying, bodging and wood carving will be demonstrated. The National Trust’s foresters will be on hand to answer questions and there will be an opportunity to buy items made from wood grown on the Ashridge Estate.

There’s loads for kids to do with craft activities and story telling and attractions this year including ferret racing, have-a-go archery and demonstrations of stone age skills.
