‘A brief history of St John the Baptist Great Gaddesden’ will describe the fabric of the building using the available evidence to chart the changes from Norman times through to the late Victorian period.
The speaker Angus Morrison, who lives in Berkhamsted, works for the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea where he deals with matters relating to conservation. As part of his training he undertook a postgraduate diploma in Historic Building Conservation at the Architectural Association in London and one of the assignments was to write a history of a medieval church detailing the materials used in its construction and examining the changes over the centuries and his talk will be based on this piece of work.
The talk takes place in the church where the changes over the years can be viewed first hand.
